Saruman

Saruman was a powerful wizard and one of the five istari sent to Middle Earth to help defeat Sauron (along with Gandalf and Radagast). Saruman was the most powerful of the order and was known as Saruman the White, though after his betrayal he was of many colors. After Isengard falls and Saruman is defeated he still plays a role as the central villain who despoils the Shire while Frodo and his friends are on their quest.

Saruman was to use the same body as Gandalf with a different head and a ring sculpted on one of the fingers. This is appropriate as in the books it is said that Saruman and Gandalf look much alike. The accessories to be created for Saruman were a robe of multiple colors, black staff with head, palantir, palantir stand, wide-brimmed hat and the keys of Orthanc (2 black keys of intricate shape, joined by a ring of steel). He was also to have dirty rags of gray, a cloak, a different cheaper non-magical staff, knife, and a leather pouch. The staff of Saruman was to be designed to have a light-up feature in the same way as Gandalf (and would incorporate the same mechanism).

There were several heads that were under consideration for Saruman. The concept art was created by ___ and the control art was done by ____. The original body for Gandalf was sculpted by Daniel Horne and the new heads for Saruman were done by ___.

Variations under consideration:

Saruman The Multi-Colored: robe of multiple colors (cloth), black staff with head, palantir, palantir stand, wide-brimmed hat, keys of Orthanc

Saruman The Fallen: (Sharkey) - cheap cloak (cloth), robe of dirty rags of gray (cloth), different cheaper non-magical staff, knife, leather pouch of pipeweed.

Saruman The White
Saruman The Besieged
Saruman The "Beggar"
Saruman The Desperate
