The wargs were a breed of wolves that were bred to aid orcs. They were the evil wolves of Rhovanion and could be ridden by orcs and were the servants of Sauron. They had blazing red eyes, shaggy coats and would howl to frighten their victims. They could leap up to ten feet in the air and greatly hated fire.
While the wargs made a much larger appearance in The Hobbit, there was an attack in LOTR prior to the Fellowship's entry in Moria but after they were forced to abandon the mountain pass. Articulation for the figure was going to be limited to only five points - a ball jointed neck and four swivel jointed shoulders for the limbs. The low articulation was done to reduce tooling costs and allow a sound chip to be installed that would allow the figure to howl. The warg was to be designed to carry Orc figures (and specifically designed for Ugluk since he was the first orc designed for the line) and would have sculpted fur. An accessory would have been included that would be an ornamental collar with a hand hold. Possible variations for this figure would have been to give it different colored fur - brown, black, white and grey. This was to be a deluxe figure that would have been around ten inches in height and about eighteen inches from head to tail.
Control art was developed for the figure and drawn by Art Asylum. There are four images of this control art shown below.
