WAVE 14: Spider Force
|
"Spider-Man's arch-enemies, Beetle, Tarantula, and Swarm are up to their old tricks again. This time, though,
they have gained transforming "Insect Armor" from alien technology they aquired, making them even more
dangerous than before! Teaming up with the Avenger known as the Wasp, Spidey aims to put an end to their
crime spree. With "Insect Battle Armor" of their own, our heroes will prove that the good guys always win!"
Released in September 1997. five interesting figures, including some surprising minor villains joined the world of plastic with this
assortment. 70's villain Tarantula is a great addition, though somewhat limited in poseability. The Wasp,
joining Captain America, was another Avenger made thanks to the Spider-Man line, though in her
humanoid-insect form. Does anyone remember the Swarm? I do - from the 80's Spider-Man cartoon, and a
few rare appearances from Spectacular Spider-Man comics. Then, there's the Beetle - so good, yet missing
his trademark wings. The Spider-Man variation is a nice sculpt, with etched weblines, though apparently a
costume made up just for the toy line.
