WAVE 4: The Animated Series Wave Four hit the pegs in late summer of 1995. Nearly one year after the debut of the line, some figures were already getting a second edition, not to mention more Spider-variations. One variation in particular was welcome though; Spider-Man's "Black Costume". The big drawback to this figure was the obvious mechanisms used to work the "Special Powers". Also, the Prowler made his figure debut, possibly due to his resemblance to Spawn, the top-selling character from Image that he predates by a few decades.
