Year of release: 1992
Figure Number:4939
Accessories: Two-pronged hand-weapon (orange)
Action Feature: Self-healing wound; Glow-in-the-dark eyes
Comments: Another popular figure from the second series of X-Men figures. However, it was felt by many that this version was too skinny. In addition, Sabretooth stopped wearing the costume represented on this figure very soon after its release, thus adding to the desire of many for another figure to be created (which subsequently resulted in the creation of Sabretooth II).
The action feature on this figure allowed you to flip a small square on the figure's chest by using a level on the back. One side showed deep claw marks (presumably from Wolverine) while the other just showed the normal costume. This was meant to represent Sabretooth's healing factor.
Sabretooth I also came with glow-in-the-dark eyes. This feature actually worked unlike the packaging mistake made with the original release of Cable I from the X-Force sister line of figures (the card for the Cable I figure erroneously notes that the figure has removable armor and a glow-in-the-dark-eye).
Despite its popularity, this figure was never re-released. Instead, a second Sabretooth figure was created and released in 1994.
