The Red Skull is the arch-nemesis of Captain America and has been a major villain in the Marvel Universe for decades. Johan Shmidt (the Skull's true name) had a very bad life as an infant, which probably made him ripe for recruitment by the Nazis. The Red Skull is no typical Nazi - he hates all mankind, he isn't picky. He's a truly evil force in the Marvel Universe, and also has the distinction of being dead several times. Like Captain America, he has spent time in suspended animation, and even uses the cloned body of Cap with the Skull visage.
Now Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles has made a resin statue of the Red Skull grasping another icon of the Marvel Universe - the Cosmic Cube. The Skull and the Cube go way back, and he's had it several times - and lost. How do you lose with a Cosmic Cube?? This statue depicts the Skull with a maniacal grin as he grasps the cube standing amidst a field of rubble that is symbolic of the Berlin Wall. The statue itself is nearly 9.5" tall from base to the top of the cube (the figure itself is around 7.5" tall) and comes fully painted, including the trademark Red Skull and fluorescent eyes. The Skull is wearing his dark green jumpsuit as he stands among the shattered bricks. This statue was sculpted by Sam Greenwell.
Since this is a statue, it has no articulation, but you can move it around on your desk to simulate it if you'd like. The Cosmic Cube is translucent, but does not come out of the Skull's hand, nor does it function properly. Diamond Select does plan to offer a companion piece of Captain America to go with this statue later in the year.
