Expectations for this toy line were high after the initial wave's success at last year's convention, and Wave 2 certainly delivers a great assortment of figures for kids and collectors alike. This wave consists of six single figures and a special two-pack of fan favorites Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt. Some attending the convention were slightly apprehensive that the inclusion of a repaint variant Ray figure meant that the All-Star line was about to go the way of so many earlier toy lines, but the company representative assured the conventioneers that the new paint job was "an attempt to improve on the toy design in order to make a more accurate reflection of the cartoon as well as the original comic book character, not a way to keep costs down." Some were also disappointed that the line did not include Dr. Fate, as was indicated by last year's convention report.

The representative explained that Fate will be released in the future, but the company felt that the prominence of the character on the Justice League Unlimited show, along with the recent figure release from that line, might be confusing to consumers. "Plus," he added, "we ran out of time." Nevertheless, Wave 2 is a worthy continuation to the All-Star line, and we look forward to what the future will bring.
