Recipes

Frank Drake: I've wanted to make a frank Drake for ages, using the recipe that Luke Thompson used for his figure of the character he didn't like it, but I though it was great! However, it seemed that the only viable way I could make it work was to copy his recipe pretty much exactly, and I didn't really want to. So, this is Frank Drake as he appears in later issues of Nightstalkers! He isn't dressed like a pirate, but he still wears an ascot, so it all balances out! He was made using a Spiderman torso and legs, a Hercules Iolas head and arms and the right hand from a cheap ninja figure. The sleeves come from a Spiderman Morbius action figure, the various straps are rubber bands and the belt is from a Generation X White Queen spear. The jacket is from a Spider Power Peter Parker and the Mic is a wrestling announcer's accessory. As for the Excorcist gun, that's a Blaze firing shotgun modified with some bits and pieces. The blades are probably too big, but I think it's cool, and it shoots stuff! I like action features so sue me!

Centurious: This was a character I'd made in my first batch of customs which sucked big time I like to think this one sucks less! Figuratively speaking of course, no figures suck literally. Except maybe that leech guy from He-Man. They don't make them like that anymore! Centurious was made with a Monster Armour Mr Sinister torso, legs and fingers on the right hand. The arms come from an X Force Black Tom figure and the head is from a Captain Marvel figure. The lower part of his flamboyant coat is from a hobbit action figure and the helmet is from a Magneto figure. I have just developed a theory that Centurious is wearing the cast offs of Kang. The thigh high boots at least, what's up with that? I loved this figure at first, but I'm not sure now. The helmet's too big, the hair's too short and he's just posing weird. But he shoots a missile, yadda yadda yadda. Yes, clearly I am the worst thing to happen to action figures by committing the sin of adding an action feature that looks a bit daft and removes articulation! And laughing about it, Bwahahahahaha!

Caretaker: The Caretaker figure in my first batch was the first proper custom I made. I like the character, so he needed a new figure. For some reason, I was convinced this one needed to look angry, so I used a Spiderman Eddie Brock head. The sleeves come from a Spiderman Morbius figure, because I loved how they looked on the Frank Drake figure, and the arms are from a Ghost Rider Blaze figure. The torso and legs were also donated by Morbius. The jacket is from a Spider Power Peter Parker figure and the hat is from a Dixon Hill Captain Picard. The shovel, is of course a wrestling accessory. I wanted Caretaker to look stocky and muscular, but I may have gone too far. My fiance suggested that he has breasts! which was somewhat distressing! I guess the Morbius body is huge because it had a mechanism inside. I think he's okay.

John Blaze: Why make a new John Blaze figure? Well, the figure that ToyBiz released had a giant inflexible coat that prevented him sitting on his motorcycle! The figure that was released with the motorcycle was wearing some kind of vest with a collar and no coat. Not that I'm complaining though, those arms were ideal for Caretaker. This is just a Blaze figure with the coat from a light up Gambit, which is slightly more flexible and doesn't come down over the front of the figure's legs. The knife and holster were added from a cheap military figure, and the shotgun is from the Armoured Blaze figure, because it looks like a shotgun, rather than the weird missile firing thingy which came with the other Blaze. Guess I don't always like missiles! The gout of flame is from a White Queen spear.

Mephisto: At last, my greatest invention is compleeeted! I appreciate that are more traditional designs for Mephisto, but when I was reading Ghost Rider in the 90s, this was how he looked. Big and fat with breasts and long nipples. I didn't design it! Although, I think I made the breasts too big, which is somewhat worrying. This was my third attempt at Mephisto, the other's being made from a 10 Spiderman and 10 Carnage respectively. Then, I saw the 12 Venom figure on Ebay, and paid too much for the b*stard thing, but that's not the point, the point is it's poifect! He even has the articulation to sit crosslegged on the ground, unlike the other base figures I was going to use! Okay, there were problems, like the left buttock I sculpted falling off, but hey I'm losing buttocks all the time! Who's with me!? No? I'll get me coat. So as I've said, a 12 Venom figure, some cheap plastic bracelets for hair the weird hand accessories from a Dormammu action figure for toes and head spikes and whole mess of Fimo! My main problems with big red are that he's too small really, he should be bigger and the aforementioned breast augmentation. But I can live with that. Until ToyBiz releases a better looking Build a Figure Mephisto. The barstools.
