Super Powers

Told you I liked Super Powers, didn't I? Okay, so Apache Chief was never made (nor intended to be made) as a SP figure, he's one of my nostalgic favorites. The McG MM figure provides a really bad-ass base, and I didn't want to just paint over his face to give AC a Cro-Magnon-like brow -- I actually did a little research on some famous Apaches and tried to capture some of the facial features of the tribe in this rework. Black Vulcan is my all-time favorite Super Friend, and after a botched effort last year that didn't make the cut, I salvaged the body and re-worked him for this year's showing. Some of you may have no idea who Cyclotron and Golden Pharaoh are, since they're Kenner-created characters for the SP line (and some of the hardest to find!). I think Jack Kirby had a hand in the design, which I seriously believe, and until I made Cyclotron, I never noticed how closely he resembled Wonder Man's first appearance (and they're both robots!). I wanted to give GP a little dignity with a more serious expression and a wicked-cool Egyptian axe. Samurai was also one of my favorites from back in the day -- although this version's torso doesn't spin. HUGE props to Jason Geyer, as I used his site extensively for reference shots.
