Last summer's expensive TriStar production of Godzilla, based on the long running series of movies from Japan's Toho Studios, wasn't quite the monster hit the studio had hoped it would be (despite a $400 million worldwide gross), and left a something of a bad taste in the mouths of many long time G-Fans.
However, Godzilla-The Series, which debuted this past season on the FOX Kids network, has gone a long way to erasing that bad taste and creating legions of new fans of the nuclear powered monster. This Fall toy company Trendmasters will be releasing their toy line based on the hit animated series.
Fans of the series, as well as fans of giant monsters (or daikaiju in Japanese), have a lot to look forward to with the new line.
The Action Figure Assortment consists of six new figures: Godzilla (left), C-Rex, Yeti, the cybernetic N.I.G.E.L. and heroes Nick and Randy.
All of Godzilla's horrendous opponents have been created specifically for the series, and include a variety of man made and mutated monstrosities. Seen here is the Crustaceous Rex, a crab like creature born off the shores of Jamaica and introduced in the introductory 2 part episode.
Godzilla hasn't seen the last of C-Rex, as the creature is slated to make a return in the upcoming 3-part Monster War epic airing in February!
One of the most anticpated monsters will be rearing it's head, also during the Monster War arc, Cyber-Godzilla!
Cyber-Godzilla is the re-animated corpse of the creature seen in last summers movie (killed during the films climatic battle on the Brooklyn Bridge), a terrifying mixture of monster and machine. Trendmasters action figure, part of the Giant Monster Assortment (along with Giant Godzilla (below).
Cyber-Godzilla comes with roaring sound effects, firing missles and "passive light" translucent mouth and fins and stands 8" tall!
Giant Godzilla also stands 8" tall, and has roaring sound effects, a firing breath blast missile (fires when you push down the fin button), and like his cybernetic counterpart also features "passive light" translucent fins.
The line also features redecos of the helicopter and F/A-18 Jet from last summer's movie assortment emblazoned with the television series H.E.A.T. logo and simulated pop off battle damage.
Trendmasters new Godzilla - The Series line will be roaring it's way into toy stores nationwide this Fall.
