RTM To Cover Mid-Ohio-Con!

  The end of November brings with it two wonderful events, Thanksgiving and the Mid-Ohio-Con! Once again Raving Toy Maniac will be covering the Mid-Ohio Con, Ohio's best comic and pop-culture party! The 20th edition of this fine convention takes place the weekend of November 27th & 28th (that's this coming weekend!). As always, big things are planned for the Con. Harlan Ellison is this year's special guest. Other guests include Lou "The Incredible Hulk" Ferrigno, Dawn "Mary Ann" Wells, Mark "Lost in Space" Goddard.On the comics front, fans will witness the debut of the latest imprint from Image Comics: Gorilla Comics! On hand for the launch of this brand-spankin' new creator-owned imprint will be a veritable who's who of comic industry superstars: Kurt Busiek, Tom Grummet, Mike Wieringo, Stuart Immomen, Joe Kelly, Mark Waid, Karl Kesel and Dave Olbrich! Of course, the real reason for RTM to be there is to let you know the latest developments on toys from attending companies: McFarlane Toys, ReSaurus, FlattWorld and Diamond Comic Distributors! We'll let you know what these companies have up their sleeves and in the works for 2000. McFarlane Toys is slated to preview Austin Powers Series 2 prototypes, as well as some of the Movie Maniacs Series 3! Flatt World will offer a look at it's upcoming releases such as Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Phantom. ReSaurus will have product for sale such as Crash Bandicoot Series 2, Speed Racer Series 2 and the just released Street Fighter assortment. Diamond's booth is alway full of exciting surprises! As a special treat to Raving Toy Maniac readers ReSaurus, to promote their appearance at the Mid-Ohio-Con, has supplied a preview of Sagat, who will be a part of the second series of Street Fighter due in 2000. "Sagat is going to be a huge figure. He will be taller than any of the first series figures," said Kevin Havens, ReSaurus' Director of Licensing. When asked about the remainder of the Street Fighter Round 2 lineup Havens responded, "We aren't announcing the rest of the [Street Fighter Series 2] line-up just yet. We want to save some surprises for Toy Fair. But we are really happy to be a part of the Mid-Ohio-Con, especially since it takes place in our own backyard. So we wanted to give the fans something special in honor of that event". Marty Egeland, artist of Adrenalyn, will also be appearing at the ReSaurus booth signing The Tenth posters that were first given out at last August's San Diego Comic-Con International to promote ReSaurus' upcoming The Tenth action figure assortment.
