May 2008 Mattel Q&A (Round 1)

May 2008 - Every couple of weeks, Mattel will answer three questions per web site about their various product lines. Here are the answers for the past few questions:

1. In terms of development, how close is Mattel to having an e-commerce site for their Boys toy lines (Current and future DC Product, Speed Racer, etc.)? Is this idea being considered, or was it considered and abandoned?

Answer: This is something we talk about and hope to be able to discuss further at SDCC this year.

2. With the JLU line now going Target-exclusive, can Target be allowed to sell DC items directly online? Or will the other online retailers (Amazon, online toy/comic stores who already sell them) be allowed to continue selling them, and Target is their Brick & Mortar exclusive distributor?

Answer: At this time Target will only be selling the JLU figures in store.

3. Do you have any plans to release a corrected version of Harley Quinn (white face-paint)?

Answer: We are working on this! (Remember what we said about doing new JLU figures...)

4. What are the prices and production runs (edition sizes) for the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives?

Answer: We have not locked down the prices at this time and the production runs will not be made public. As soon as we have confirmed prices we'll make them well known!

5. Which action figure lines will see higher retail prices (and by how much) in June? Or will action figures be affected by the increases?

Answer: At this time we hope that our figure lines will not increase in price in 2008. If we do find that rising costs cause retail prices to go up, we will let fans know.

6. What is going on with the DC Fighting Figures (BattLeague)? Is that line still going forward or is it done?

Answer: Fighting Figures will continue throughout 2008. Toys R Us has been a huge supporter of the line. Hopefully if retailers continue to order this line more new product will hit shelves.
