LEGO® Wheels, Wings and Waves designed to inspire children of all ages

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- 10/01/09 - The Canada Science and Technology Museum is proud to present a new travelling exhibition from LEGO Canada Inc., Wheels, Wings and Waves - A LEGO History of Transportation.

The exhibition will kick off with a live, onsite LEGO build of a nearly 3 meter long space shuttle by LEGO-Certified Professional Robin Sather with the help of Canada Science and Technology Museum visitors during opening weekend, October 2 - 4.

LEGO-Certified Professional Robin Sather will kick off the space shuttle build on Friday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. and finish on Sunday, October 4 with the official unveiling at 4:00 p.m. All visitors are invited to participate in building the shuttle with the LEGO-Certified Professional. Same day on-site registration only. Space is limited. Children under five must be supervised by an adult.

The exhibition showcases replicas of air, land and water transportation in a fun way, featuring LEGO replica models ranging from the Titanic to the Ford Model T to steam trains and spacecraft among other displays. A LEGO discovery area invites visitors young and old to imagine and build new forms of transportation, then test them in action on an interactive race ramp.

"We know how much more children can learn when they're having fun, so we designed this show to serve as both a fun family learning experience and as inspiration to unleash the inner creator and builder. We are particularly excited to show the exhibit at the Canada Science and Technology Museum, given its ability to attract and engage families with children."

Beginning today, children across Canada, can explore their creative spirit by entering the LEGO CLICK Awards, an annual essay contest for children ages six to 13. Designed to inspire and celebrate children's innovative thinking and inventive spirit, five winning essays submitted by children will be each be awarded a $1000 cash prize. To submit for the award, children must answer "If you could invent anything, what would it be? Describe how to use it. How did you get the idea? What excites you about it?" before November 2, 2009.
