New LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Dallas/Fort Worth Solicits Ideas from Metroplex to Help Shape MINILAND
Citizens of All Ages Encouraged to Submit Favorite D/FW Landmarks for Inclusion in Permanent Structure
GRAPEVINE, Texas -- October 27, 2010 -- Today, LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Dallas/Fort Worth (D/FW), slated to open in April 2011 at Grapevine Mills by Merlin Entertainments Group, launched a widespread "Call for Ideas" to the residents of the D/FW Metroplex to help shape the MINILAND structure that will be on permanent display in the new indoor attraction. MINILAND will incorporate key landmarks and iconic buildings from around D/FW that will be perfectly recreated in LEGO® bricks by the team of its expert LEGO model builders.
Beginning today through November 14, 2010, individuals of all ages are encouraged to visit the D/FW page of www.legolanddiscoverycenter.com to submit their top three choices of what they consider to be the most iconic landmarks in the Metroplex. Entries are limited to one submission per person, per day. One of the lucky entries will also win a pass for their entire family to the preview launch event in April 2011.
A list of the top contenders will be announced the week of November 8, 2010, and the top ten winners will be announced mid-November. The final MINILAND structure with all the landmarks selected for inclusion will be unveiled to the public when the attraction opens in April 2011.
"We are looking forward to seeing the input we receive from all over the Metroplex, as MINILAND will be the main attraction in the new D/FW center," said Courtney Tolbert with LEGOLAND Discovery Center. "Our team of expert model builders love a challenge, so the more detailed and intricate the buildings identified and chosen, the better. The fun part for people that submit ideas is when they see the final MINILAND, if one of their choices made the cut, they will truly feel a part of what was being created for their local attraction."
LEGOLAND Discovery Centers are Merlin Entertainments Group's newest attraction concept that was first launched in Berlin in 2007.
