DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 16 -- Plurimus Corporation, a leading provider of the broadest and most-detailed online marketing intelligence, today released daily U.S. traffic figures for visitors to HarryPotter.com, the official Web site of the Warner Bros. movie "Harry Potter" opening today in theaters.
From November 3-13 approximately 125,000 unique U.S. households visited HarryPotter.com each day, nearly triple the average that visited the site during October. This is even more remarkable given that traffic to HarryPotter.com jumped 50% from September to October.
According to Michael Babyak, Ph.D., Chief Statistician at Plurimus, it appears that Lego.com, which has a link within the HarryPotter.com site, is benefiting too. Traffic to Lego.com in November is up 21% vs. October. Lego.com is the 8th most-visited site after people leave HarryPotter.com and the 12th most-visited site before people visit HarryPotter.com.
"This type of information allows clients to make sound strategic and tactical decisions in real time," said Brian Gullette, Vice President at Plurimus. "Plurimus enables lower online marketing expenditures and superior competitive intelligence."
Traffic to HarryPotter.com as measured by Plurimus hit an all-time high on Sunday, November 11 when 152,519 unique households visited. That was the same day a special edition of "Dateline" aired on NBC featuring the movie.
In terms of share of the overall market, traffic to HarryPotter.com exceeded StarWars.com in three of the last four months. The official Web site of the film Lord Of The Rings is attracting a much smaller audience than HarryPotter.com. The Lord Of The Rings film is scheduled for release December 19.
