Mezco update: The joint efforts of Mezco (concept & production), Varner Studios (sculpture) & Design Edge (packaging) to bring "Freedom the American Eagle" move forward. Here is a first look at the wax sculpts from Varner studios, there is still a little clean up needed but this is what the unpainted figure pretty much looks like. The project which started after the 9/11 attacks is being donated by the partners mentioned above. The figure will ship 1st quarter 2002 & proceeds will be donated to appropriate relief funds & charities through Mezco Toyz.
"Freedom" stands about 7" tall (off the base), comes with removable wings, an American flag & a base that is a relief map of the United States of America which will have an adhesive bottom if desired to display on a car dash board.
The Bald Eagle was officially declared the National Emblem of the United States by the Second Continental Congress in 1782. It was selected by the U.S.A.'s founding fathers because it is a species unique to North America. The Bald Eagle has since become the living symbol of the U.S.A.'s freedoms, spirit and pursuit of excellence. Its image and symbolism have played a significant role in American art, folklore, music and architecture. MEZCO'S version of the bald eagle brings all of its proud strength to life while creating a new & unique figure that is not only a powerful icon to display but a kool patriotic toy to interact with.
Stay tuned as we will shortly release painted flics of the figure & packaging comps.
