As we reported last week, Mattel has delayed the re-launch of the Masters of the Universe action figure series until July/August 2002.
Mattel has told us that they are committed to making this re-launch event the largest in its "Male Action group" history. For this reason, the re-launch is being delayed to coincide with a one-hour "never-before told" television special which will "chronicle the story of how Prince Adam became He-Man."
Not only will the delay allow more time to make the action figures perfect, the timing (issuing the new action figures at the same time as the television special airs) will create more interest in the Masters of the Universe among kids as well as collectors.
It was kids who made Masters of the Universe great the first time, and they may again help the line achieve greatness.
Mattel will be showing He-Man at Toy Fair in New York in their gallery in February, and RTM will be there to cover them.
