Toysrus.com Expands Mattel Boutiques

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., (January 25, 2002) - Mattel Inc., the world's largest toy maker today announced a promotional agreement with Toysrus.com, Inc., the leading online toy, video game and baby retailer (www.toysrus.com). As part of the agreement, Toysrus.com is creating dedicated "boutiques" for Mattel's Barbie, Hot Wheels, Matchbox and Fisher-Price brands within Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com online stores. In addition, consumers who visit popular Mattel sites will now have the option to link directly to Toysrus.com sites to purchase related Mattel brands.

The Fisher-Price web site (www.fisher-price.com) now allows parents who are already using Fisher-Price's parenting resources to link directly to Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com to purchase related product. In addition, in early 2002, Toysrus.com will unveil a "Fisher-Price Toys Boutique" and Babiesrus.com (www.babiesrus.com) will launch a "Fisher-Price Baby Gear Boutique."

Toysrus.com has also launched a brand new "Barbie Boutique" and will feature numerous Barbie promotional efforts. In turn, parents who visit Barbie.com's "Catalog," "Parents" and "Wish List" sections will now be able to link directly to Toysrus.com's "Barbie Boutique" to purchase the hottest Barbie products.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mattel's Boys/Entertainment New Media group will work together with Toysrus.com to update the site's Hot Wheels and Matchbox stores, to develop additional online and offline promotions, and to potentially develop additional brand pages on Toysrus.com for other Mattel Boys/Entertainment brands.

"In addition to offering a great interactive experience via the Mattel websites, we are providing consumers the opportunity to directly purchase their favorite products at two great sites that offer a word class online shopping experience: Toysrus.com and Babiesrus.com," said Adrienne Fontanella, President, Girls Division Mattel.

"Toysrus.com is already the leader in online toy and baby retailing, so aligning with Mattel's strong brand equity, scope of product offering and category leadership will further strengthen our ability to offer our guests the best selection of the hottest toys and the best possible online shopping experience," said John Barbour, CEO, Toysrus.com. "We think these cross-promotional efforts will make life more convenient for the parents who now rely on the Web to research and buy products for their families."
