NEW YORK -- New Line Cinema Licensing and Merchandising has awarded toy and action figure manufacturer Mezco Toyz the license for the third installment in the Austin Powers film franchise. Mezco has the rights to produce articulated and non-articulated figures 10" and under.
Mezco Toyz is planning to produce the first assortment of 6" action figures and 2" Mez-Itz block-style figures to be shipped prior to the movie's July 26, 2002 premiere. 10" deluxe figures will follow along with the second assortment of action figures and Mez-Itz.
The first assortment of action figures will include six figures. Industry buyers and press will get their first look at those figures at the New York International Toy Fair in February.
Mike Myers will reunite with director Jay Roach, writer Michael McCullers and producer John Lyons for the third installment of New Line Cinema's phenomenally successful Austin Powers franchise. The sequel will feature familiar characters as well as a new nemeses and a new Powers girl.
