Run-DMC Show Figures at RockWalk Induction

Mezco Toyz was on hand as legendary rap group Run-DMC was inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk on Monday February 25, 2002. And so were Mezco's 6" action figures of the seminal rap trio. As RUN said it best, pointing to his own figure, "This is what it's all about."

In a tribute befitting the Kings of Rock, Mezco Toyz will release a three-figure assortment in October including RUN, DMC and Jam Master Jay. The 6" figures include added extras such as removable clothing, sneakers, real chains, mics, turn tables and of course, their signature hats.

RUN-DMC was inducted into Hollywood's RockWalk, the famous sidewalk gallery dedicated to honoring those artists who have made a significant contribution to the evolution of Rock 'n Roll. RUN-DMC's handprints and signatures will reside alongside such other accomplished musicians and innovators B.B King, Johnny Cash, James Brown, Carl Perkins, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, George Clinton & P Funk, KISS and Aerosmith among numerous others. Mezco Toyz RUN-DMC prototypes will be on permanent display in the RockWalk museum.

RUN-DMC, hip hop pioneers and legends, have been on the frontline of hip hop, rock and R & B for more than twenty years, altering the landscape of music irreversibly and redefining the genre boundaries out of existence. These icons continue to influence a cross section of artists including Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, 'N Sync and Christina Aguilera.

RUN-DMC's career milestones have become milestones for the genre of rap itself. The trio became the first rappers to appear on MTV, American Bandstand, Saturday Night Live and the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. They were the first rappers to earn gold and platinum albums; the first to receive airplay on MTV; the first nominated for a Grammy Award. Their fusion of rap and rock brought the group and the rap genre mainstream success and paved the way for all who followed.

RUN, DMC and Jam Master Jay have proven time and time again they are the undisputed Kings of Rock and Mezco's action figure tribute is a shining jewel in their royal crown.
