NEW YORK, April 19 -- Columbia Records -- On Saturday, April 27, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Tony Hawk, known worldwide as the ambassador of skateboarding, will create the biggest action sports and music show in history for children, young adults and families alike.
Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam is an explosive, high-voltage stunt and music spectacular featuring such action-sports stars as skateboarders Tony Hawk and Bob Burnquist, BMX bike riders Dave Mirra and Mat Hoffman, and Motocross freestylists Carey Hart and Dustin Miller. The athletes will do eye-popping stunts on a customized, million-dollar ramp/track edifice. In the middle of it all, playing hard, will be multi-platinum selling punk rockers The Offspring as well as punk legends Social Distortion.
Tickets range from $25-$150 (the $150 ticket includes a meeting with Hawk) and go on sale at 12 noon on Saturday, March 9 at Ticketmaster. The night will offer a sensory overload via a dynamic light show, a pyrotechnic display, a top-billed disc jockey and two emcees. The Las Vegas show is a preview performance of the Boom Boom HuckJam's 24-city arena tour scheduled to take place this fall.

In the Fall of 2002, Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam tour will travel to 24 cities across America, making it the first action-sports and music arena tour in the U.S. During his recent and profoundly successful "Gigantic Skatepark Tour" for ESPN, which drew overflow crowds at skateparks throughout the U.S. and Canada for two summers straight, Hawk became increasingly convinced that a sports-and-music tour aimed at a young audience would be a slam-dunk success -- especially if it included the right mix of star power and technology.
Hawk, widely regarded as the icon of skateboarding, is the most visible "alternative" athlete in the world, and the first to receive widespread mainstream recognition. The 12-time world champion has invented more than 80 tricks. In 2001, he was named "Best Male Athlete" at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, beating nominees Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal and Tiger Woods.
