Muppet Show Series 3 Figures
|
July 31, 2002 - Palisades Toys has unveiled these images and information about their third series of Muppet Show action figures just in time for the San Diego Comic Con.
Rowlf Sculpted by: Cynthia Woodie (Head/Hands) and Big Chief Studios (Tuxedo) Prototyped by: Big Chief Studios Accessories by: Johnny Apokolips Paints by: Eddie Wires Packaging: Greg Leeuwen and Keith Wilson Articulation Points: 12 Articulation: Swivel Neck, Swivel Ears, Ball shoulders, Swivel Biceps, Swivel Wrists, Swivel Waist, T-Crotch Hips Accessories: Baby Grand Piano and Beethoven's Bust
The first thing you may have noticed is that this is not the "standard" version of Rowlf. Why? We have something special planned for that figure and will release him in a later assortment of figures. The second thing you may notice is that there is no logo base. We dropped the bases after Series 2 in order to make room for more accessory pieces that the figure can use, and nowhere does that apply more than this figure, whose baby grand piano is one of the most dynamic accessories we have done to date in the Muppets line. We will occasionally throw in a small disc base from time to time for any figures that have a need for it, but thought it would be better to have some chunkier cool stuff in the package!
Fans of the Muppet Show will notice that the "fan nugget" here is the Beethoven's bust, a character on the show that would often interact with Rowlf at the piano. Like the Robot Rabbit, we thought this was a great pack-in to include with the Rowlf figure and hope the fans dig it as much as we do!
Scooter Sculpted by: Kathy Jeffers Prototyped by: Kathy Jeffers Accessories by: Johnny Apokolips Paints by: Eddie Wires Packaging: Greg Leeuwen and Keith Wilson Articulation Points: 16 Articulation: Modified Ball Neck, Ball Shoulders, Swivel Biceps, Elbows, Swivel Wrists, Waist, T-crotch Hips, Knees, Modified Ball Ankles Accessories: Skateboard, Clipboard, Megaphone, Soda Cup with Holder, Chinese Take-Out Box, Portable Radio
Now THAT is a ton of accessories. The skateboard will have a peg so Scooter can stand on it, and moveable wheels that work. The Soda Cup Holder is one of those Take-Out things you get at the drive thru at a burger joint that actually holds the two Soda Cups it comes with. The Chinese Take-Out box has a swivel handle and so does the Portable Radio. The Megaphone has some really cool little details and how can you possibly have a Scooter without his signature clipboard?
A special exclusive version of this figure, a Superhero Version with a Cape, Beanie, Ladder and How To Be A Superhero Book, all from the Lynda Carter episode, will be released in Series 4 to a major retailer.
Lew Zealand Sculpted by: Cynthia Woodie Prototyped by: Big Chief Studios Accessories by: Johnny Apokolips Paints by: Eddie Wires Packaging: Greg Leeuwen and Keith Wilson Articulation Points: 14 Articulation: Swivel Neck, Ball Shoulders, Swivel Biceps, Elbows, Swivel Wrists, Waist, T-crotch Hips, Knees Accessories: Kenneth Fish, Swordfish, Small Mouth Bass, Minnow Bucket
Lew comes with what else? Fish. Lots of fish. First up is his signature Kenneth Fish, the main one he threw in the show. Looks sort of like a carp, but who can tell? It's a Muppet fish, wadd'ya want? He also comes with a Small Mouth Bass and a giant Swordfish. All these pieces of fishy goodness can be stored in his Minnow Bucket. What makes the Minnow Bucket cool is that it has all the characteristics of a real one. It has the removable inner bucket, with the swivel lid, and a nifty swivel handle so Lew can carry his wares around in between performances!
Zoot Sculpted by: Raven Hood Prototyped by: Raven Hood Accessories by: Johnny Apokolips Paints by: Eddie Wires Packaging: Greg Leeuwen and Keith Wilson Articulation Points: 16 Articulation: Modified Ball Neck, Ball Shoulders, Swivel Biceps, Elbows, Swivel Wrists, Waist, T-crotch Ball Jointed Hips, Knees, Modified Ball Ankles Accessories: Magnetic Hat, Saxophone, Saxophone Case, Music Stand
The fourth member of the Electric Mayhem to make it into figure form, Zoot plays the Saxophone, and it is a REALLY cool accessory. Not only is it pretty authentic, but also the mouthpiece comes off and the Sax can be stored just like a real one in the Saxophone Case that opens and closes. Zoot also comes with his signature floppy hat, magnetized like the hats in Series 2. Lastly, Zoot comes with a Music Stand so he can follow along (he gets easily distracted!) when he plays with the band!
The Swedish Chef and The Swedish Kitchen Chef Figure Sculpted by: Camelot Industrial Artists Chef Figure Prototyped by: Camelot Industrial Artists Kitchen and Accessories by: Johnny Apokolips Paints by: Eddie Wires Packaging: Greg Leeuwen and Keith Wilson Swedish Chef Features: Articulation Points: 10 Articulation: Swivel Neck, Ball shoulders, Elbows, Swivel Wrists, Waist, Swivel Hips Accessories: Hat
Since the Chef comes with the Swedish Kitchen Deluxe Playset, he doesn't have much in the way of extra accessories for himself. He does have a removable magnetic hat though, just for good measure.

Swedish Kitchen Features: Opening Drawers: 4 Opening Cabinets: 6 Removable Accessories Pieces: 43 Accessories List: Plates (x4), Spoon, Spatula, Over-Sized Tenderizer Mallet, Cleaver, Copper Pot with Lid (x2), Skillet with Lid, Muffin Tray, Adjustable Wrench, Lobster Bandits (x3), Talking Cake, Mixing Bowls, Electric Mixer, Tennis Racket, Carpenter's Saw, Pancake Stack on Plate, Fire Extinguisher, Hanging Ham, Hanging Sausage, Hanging Cheese, Jumper Cables, Cast Iron Teapot, Kitchen Towel, Flour Sack, Sugar Sack, Salt Shaker, Pepper Shaker, Radio, Breadboard, Vegetables, Cutting/Prep Board, Ice Tray
To say this Kitchen come fully loaded is the understatement of the year. Not only does it come with all the pieces mentioned above, but it has some cool other features too. It's got a clear window over the sink and two clear wall cabinets. It's got an authentic Heartland old-fashioned stove that has an opening warmer oven, opening main oven, broiling drawer that opens and two smaller sections to the stove that open, one with a special swivel handle just like the real thing that stays cool so the Chef won't singe those hands of his. The Heartland fridge has an opening freezer with the removable ice tray and tons of detail, and the fridge door opens too. The receiver handle of the antique phone comes off so the Chef can take those important calls, and there is removable kitchen "mess" so you can have a tidy or messed up look to the prep island.
Not shown is the "fan nugget" Lobster Banditos. Still working these guys out, and we will show them to you as soon as we have them just where we want them!
There are a few shots of the sculpture unpainted and the first painted prototype being displayed at the SDCC. Expect the paints to go through some changes, as this is the first one and we still have some tweaks to make to it!
