Killer Bunnies Attack Gen Con

(There are two Killer Bunnies press releases on this page, scroll down for the Gen Con release.)

They're Fuzzy! They're Furry! They're Funny and Full of Fury!

August 2, 2002 - Milwaukee, WI: They are Killer Bunnies, and they are premiering in their first game, Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot! Killer Bunnies is a fast paced, action filled card game, in which you must try to keep as many of your Bunnies alive as possible, while eliminating your opponents' Bunnies. The problem: Your opponents are armed with weapons and will stop at nothing to keep you from winning the game, which can get dreadfully vengeful, horribly nasty, hilariously messy, and just plain fun!

Can you keep from being attacked by the whimsical Whisk or the torching Flame Thrower? Defend your Bunnies with the Magic Spatula, or use a Feed The Bunny card to starve out an opponent! It's off-the-wall strategic fun, where the goal is to survive and claim the Magic Carrot to win the game!

A "Hare" Raising Time

After an initial preview at the Origins International Game Expo in Columbus, Ohio, requests for the Killer Bunnies game have been at an unprecedented level. Playroom was forced to push up the release date because of the overwhelming demand, and now the first run of the new Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic card game will be available at the Gen Con Game Fair Booth #943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 8 - 11th. The non-collectible card game has been out in the market in the limited edition Delta Series for purposes of test-play over the past year, and numerous Booster Decks have also been introduced. Now, the new Blue Starter Deck of the Epsilon Series will be hitting store shelves in early September, but Playroom has already been flooded with pre-orders.

For 2 to 8 players, the 165-card deck is geared toward family fun. The graphics on the cards are cute, fun and silly, despite the game's premise of a bunny-killing free-for-all, making it perfect for ages 12 to adult. Also included in the deck are 36 small Carrot, Cabbage and Water cards, 6 twelve-sided dice, and a hysterically entertaining Instruction Booklet. The suggested retail price of Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot is $24.95 and the game will be available at all specialty game, comic and hobby shops nationwide as well as select toy and gift retailers.

Play Your Cards Right!

Playroom Entertainment's product line includes a variety of new and unique games, puzzles and brainteasers. Playroom introduced new mechanical puzzles this year, with the Mad Triad Challenge and Handy Mad Triad. The patented Mad Triad puzzle games are multi-level brainteasers that challenge players to unscramble different-colored dials to form a variety of arrangements. In addition to the Mad Triad and Handy Mad Triad puzzle games, in 2002 Playroom also introduced the Games Around the Globe line, based on a combination of trick-taking, climbing and matching card and board games, originating from various countries throughout the world - all which have withstood the test of time. Included in the line are: Golden Deuce from China, Chiamo! from Italy, Eye of Horus from Egypt, SeaNochle from the United States and Kooky Kalooki from Jamaica, and all have attractive, customized playing cards geared towards family fun.

Bunny Bulletin News Flash:

Thursday, August 15, 2002 - Los Angeles, CA. - The dust has begun to settle as Gen Con 2002 attendees make their way back home to various parts of the country. In the wake of the madness, many gamers are still suffering from side effects due to the Killer Bunnies exposure. The destruction hit hard, and it has now been revealed that Playroom Entertainment is being held responsible for the insanity that the Killer Bunnies have created.

The BCDC (Bunny Center for Disease Control) has released the following symptoms to watch out for: the urge to destroy anything with large floppy ears, the need to go to your local culinary store to buy whisks, and incessant hoarding of cabbage and water.

The insanity is not over, officials have declared. Because of the lack of quarantine, Gen Con attendees have already passed the Killer Bunnies craze on to friends, family, and their own local game retailers. As a result, a spokesperson for the Killer Bunnies, who wishes to remain anonymous, has announced that they will begin their invasion of cities all across the country in early September, which will continue to effect another mass of gamers. The BCDC warns the public not to take this lightly, as the Killer Bunnies are indeed armed with weapons of various destruction levels, and will continue to attack each other in a strategic quest to claim what is now commonly called "The Magic Carrot".

The infestation has already begun, as civilians from across the country have called or emailed for answers on how they too can become part of the Killer Bunnies craze. "Obviously, these people have become infected from a friend or relative that has been exposed to Killer Bunnies," says Killer Bunnies expert, Jon Haaz. "Once exposed, it becomes quite an addiction, with the inevitable bunny killing to follow."

We will continue the coverage of these events as reports come in. Until then, keep on the lookout for Killer Bunnies, coming to a local game store near you. For more information and developments in this story, visit http://www.KillerBunnies.com
