Each Starlight Bearstone® Boyds creates is bottom stamped with a special quote from a Starlight child. The "Joy Angeltouch" Bearstone®, is a 3" high angel bear plucking a star from the sky. A baby bear cub sits on the angel bear's lap and reaches for the star. The quote on the bottom of the piece reads, "You might not realize it, but you brighten our lives and help ease the pain that we all go through." - Starlight Child. Each Bearstone® also includes a special certificate with a message from The Folks at Boyds and is packaged in a box printed with a "thank you" from Boyds and Starlight. The suggested retail price of the Bearstone® is $18.00. It will be available at participating Boyds dealers for one year.

Founded in 1983 by actress Emma Samms and producer Peter Samuelson, the Starlight Children's Foundation® is now an international non-profit organization benefiting more than 100,000 seriously ill children each and every month. The top ten dealers will also be given the opportunity to donate a Starlight child's wish. Another way Boyds helps out Starlight is by funding Starlight sites at hospitals across the country. A Starlight Site is a thematic, fantasy playroom in the hospital where children can escape the rigors of treatment to play, read and watch movies. A 'Sherwood Forest' themed lobby is due to open September 25, 2002 at the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and another Starlight Site is in the works for a Boston, Massachusetts hospital.
