Mighty MED & the Health Avengers
|
ATLANTA, Georgia, Sept. 17, 2002 -- Mighty MED & The Health Avengers today announced their campaign against the bad guys that attack the health of children. Mighty MED & The Health Avengers will entertain and teach kids about important health care issues such as infections, allergies, and smoking, as they battle the evil INFECTO and his many henchmen. Formed from a genetic experiment that went awry, Mighty MED uses a bio-nuclear potion to craft living Health Avengers from the ordinary medical equipment that he finds in the now-abandoned medical research building where the experiment took place. He will need all the help he can get as he battles such foes as The Allergy Aggravators, the Tobacco Terrorists, and INFECTO's Gang. More information on the characters and their stories can be found at www.mightymed.com.
Mighty MED is the brainchild of Alfred Martin, MD, an Atlanta physician with an MBA from Harvard. "I was working on an Internet project that involved educating children about health care," states Martin. "Before that, I had developed the cartoon characters to help market a medical practice, but sold the practice before putting the characters to use. Then one day it occurred to me that cartoons are an even better infomediary than the Internet. With cartoons, information can be morphed through every media imaginable -- TV, print, Internet, plush dolls, video games, puzzles, and much more. Our web site, www.mightymed.com, was recently launched, and has received excellent reviews from physicians, school nurses, and teachers. Many have taken advantage of the free English and Spanish language health posters that are available for download from the web site."
Dr. Martin is currently negotiating with several pediatric hospitals and societies, pharmaceutical companies, pediatric web sites, and toy agents, as he rolls out his plans for Mighty MED. "Kids are going to watch cartoons and play video games -- why not teach them something useful while they do it?" Dr. Martin goes on to add, "This would make an interesting case study at the Harvard Business School. The start-up phase is analogous to the budding rock star seeking to get out of the motel lounge and into the Hollywood Bowl. Mighty MED is going to be famous one day. Saturday morning cartoons, here we come!"
