Treebeard Deluxe Action Figure
|
October 2002 - Toy Biz has released official images for the new Treebeard deluxe figure, and we're glad to show it below. (The image is large and may take a little while to load).
The figure is 14" tall and has light-up and talking features, and the mouth moves when the figure speaks. The RTM staff had the opportunity to see this toy in person at the start of October in the Toy Biz offices, and the light-up features, sculpting and paint work was top notch. The voice chip was clear and recognizable, the figure is huge and the movement of the mouth when he speaks is perfect. The figure will also be able to 'scoop up' the hobbits (Merry and Pippin) through an action feature built into the figure.
The figure will be packaged in a modified window box with 'try-me' features so you can listen to him speak. The packaging is very similar to the box for Sauron. The figure is scheduled for release in December 2002, and should be arriving at retailers by mid to late December. The figures of Merry and Pippin shown with Treebeard are not included when you buy Treebeard, and the two hobbits are available currently in 2-packs paired with orcs.
The voice of Treebeard is John-Rhys Davies, who also plays Gimli in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and is known for his characters and voice work in the Indiana Jones movies, the television show Sliders, and the Wing Commander series of video games (doing voice and acting work).
The second film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy is The Two Towers, which is scheduled for release to theaters in December 18th, 2002. For more information on other figures from The Two Towers, please read our coverage of the other figures in the RTM Spotlights below:
