|
GREEN BAY, Wis., Nov. 11 -- ShopKo's 2002 hot holiday toy list marks the return of traditional favorites and the arrival of new characters making an impression on today's kids. "This year's toy season is shaping up to be a blend of nostalgia and licensed characters from television," said David Hensley, ShopKo divisional vice president. "Gen Xers have grown up and are purchasing many of the same toys they once enjoyed for their kids. Toys like Care Bears and He-Man action figures are popular again."
Parents and children alike will be familiar with many of the top-sellers on ShopKo's 2002 top ten toy list: - Leap Pad by LeapFrog
- Bratz Fashion Dolls by MGA Entertainment
- Chicken Dance Elmo by Fisher-Price
- My Scene Barbie by Mattel
- Lego Harry Potter's Chamber of Secrets by Lego
- Rescue Heroes by Fisher-Price
- "We Did It" Dancing Dora by Fisher-Price
- SpongeBob SquarePants figures by Mattel
- Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Cards by Upper Deck Entertainment
- Care Bears by Play Along Toys
Teddy bears will also be popular gifts this holiday season, according to Hensley. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of one of America's most loved toys, ShopKo will give away more than 150,000 teddy bears to early-bird shoppers Friday, November 29 as part of its 5-hour, Day-After-Thanksgiving sale.
