CARLSBAD, CA -- Nov 15, 2002 -- Even the smallest football enthusiasts won't have to sit on the bench when Super Bowl XXXVII kicks off next January in San Diego. The Family Huddle at LEGOLAND® California will team up kids, athletes and parents for football and fun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, January 23rd - just three days before the Super Bowl.
The sportstacular will tackle the 128-acre theme park in Carlsbad and includes a special football-themed LEGO® Building Event with Master Model Builders, live music and an active wear fashion show featuring entertainers, athletes and their children. Guests will walk the theme park midways with NFL legends as well as today's most talented players, and the youngsters will love LEGOLAND California's 50 rides, shows and attractions including three roller coasters and the ever popular Driving School.
Joining in the activities will be hundreds of children who benefit from the Greater San Diego Inner-City Games every day through sports, educational and community enrichment programs. Athletes & Entertainers for Kids, a non-profit organization providing mentor and educational services for children and teens throughout Southern California, also is participating in this first-of-its-kind event at the popular family theme park. The event provides funds to both charitable organizations.
"LEGOLAND is thrilled to work with the Greater San Diego Inner-City Games as the primary sponsor for this exciting event and Athletes & Entertainers for Kids as the secondary benefactor," said Bill Haviluk, president and general manager of LEGOLAND California. "The LEGOLAND Family Huddle is designed to offer fans of all ages the opportunity to be part of the excitement of Super Bowl XXXVII, whether they have a ticket to the game or not. The day will be a celebration of football for local fans of all ages as well as visitors to San Diego," Haviluk said.
"This event is giving families a chance to spend a fun-filled day with players and sport celebrities while supporting non-profit organizations focusing on the needs of youngsters," he added.

They drive, pedal, squirt, climb, jump, stomp, slide, steer, pull, click, push, gallop, laugh, build and program their way through more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. There are only three other LEGOLAND parks in the world -- LEGOLAND® Billund in Denmark, LEGOLAND® Windsor outside of London and LEGOLAND Deutschland in Günzburg, Germany.
