Game Play Alters Mage Knight Rules

March 14, 2003 (SEATTLE) -- WizKids, LLC, today announced updates to the rules of their best-selling Mage Knight(tm), Mage Knight Dungeons and Mage Knight Conquest collectable miniatures games.

The changes, made in response to feedback from players, envoys and others involved in Mage Knight play, are designed to increase the playability of certain figures, and address loopholes that have led to the dominance of certain playing styles. Details of the rules changes can be found at www.mageknight.com.

"We want to challenge players to use their figures in new ways and in new combinations," said Jordan Weisman, WizKids founder and CEO. "The changes will eliminate advantages that the rules offered to certain types of figures. We hope the changes will get people thinking in new directions and looking for new tactics. It's a good thing."

Weisman added that the rules changes would definitely shake up the Mage Knight tournament scene, making the contests more exciting.

The biggest changes are alterations to some of the special abilities, like Magic Levitation and Magic Freeze, and modifications to rules affecting the play of figures with larger bases, like titans and chariots. According to Mage Knight Game Designer Jeff Grubb, the changes make more figures accessible for play.

"Now you can get more types of Heroes and Mage Spawn involved, and use the larger mounted figures without limiting your strategy. The object of the game has always been to have fun, and now the rules make it easier to do just that," said Grubb.
