PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- May 14, 2003 -- Hasbro, Inc. announced today that it is donating over 36,000 toys to benefit children on 300 U.S. military bases around the world.
Each military base will receive a donation of approximately 120 toys and games, including PLAY-DOH products and CANDY LAND, CONNECT FOUR, SCRABBLE and TWISTER games.
"This donation is a way to thank our Service members and their families for their sacrifices during this time of national stress," said Hasbro Chairman Alan Hassenfeld. "We hope that these toys and games will bring comfort and smiles to their children."
"Hasbro's donation will enhance learning skills and create much happiness for children of military Service members, many of whom have one or both parents deployed in service to their country," said John Molino, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.
The donations will be used in childcare, after-school and youth programs on the bases.
