Elkridge, MD (June 3, 2003) When Wizard World EAST opened its doors at 12:00 P.M. Friday afternoon the biggest comic book and mass media convention on the East Coast was underway. And if you were fortunate enough to pick up tickets to the show, you were lucky enough to experience all the convention had to offer.
"Once again, Wizard World East was nothing short of phenomenal," stated Mike Horn, chief executive officer of Palisades Toys. "From the exclusive Bunsen & Beaker set to the enormous crowd, this was one of the best shows that Palisades has ever participated in. I know I speak for everyone here when I say that we can't wait until Wizard World Chicago!"
Palisades Toys Booth was a hit at the show with thousands of consumers flooding walkways in the attempt to get their hands on this year's exclusives -- Steppin' Out Bunsen & Beaker and Tour Animal. In fact, several folks were disappointed to learn that Tour Animal was completely sold-out within two hours on Friday and it's counterpart MEGA Animal, was close behind, selling out at the end of day Friday.
Some of the celebrities that stopped by the booth, to pick-up an exclusive, included Alex Ross, popular comic book artist and Raven, professional wrestler. Additionally, Allison Mack, actress on the WB's Smallville; actor and director, Kevin Smith and WWF wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin also received a variety of current and past exclusives in addition to the recently launched 12-inch MEGA Beaker action figures. Additionally, VH-1's "Get Your Geek On" staff swung by to tape b-roll for its upcoming pilot this summer and Philadelphia's Y100 Radio Station mentioned Bunsen & Beaker on-air all day Friday, as they broadcast live from the show floor.
VIP's and celebrity guests who attended the event received a pleasant surprise when they discovered this year's party giveaway, Rizzo the Rat hiding inside the goodie bags. Speaking of which, over 450 guests lined up at 9:00 p.m. to attend the Wizard World East party sponsored by Palisades Toys. Guests were thrilled to receive the complimentary party favor.
"Rizzo the Rat was given to this year's Wizard World East party attendees by Palisades Toys - an incredible follow up to last year's highly sought after Lunchbox Kermit. Palisades was the talk of the show floor the next day," shared Wizard Entertainment CEO, Gareb Shamus. "I can't wait to see what they will be giving away at our Wizard World Chicago party."
