LOS ANGELES -- July 15, 2003 -- MGA Entertainment Inc., manufacturer and creators of the worldwide hit fashion dolls, Bratz(TM), has been awarded the 2003 SPARC (Supplier Performance Award by Retail Category) Award in the category of Girls Toys. According to retail industry trade publication and SPARC host DSN Retailing Today, this is the first time since the award for toys was divided up into boys and girls categories in 1996, that a company other than Mattel, which won the 2nd place Silver Circle, has been awarded the SPARC for Girls Toys.
"It is a great honor for MGA to receive this award," said MGA Entertainment CEO Isaac Larian. "I am very thankful to the members of the retail industry who voted for MGA, and extremely proud of the entire MGA family worldwide who have worked so hard to make this happen. We will continue to strive for excellence and always be passionate in what we do. This was totally unexpected and a complete surprise!"

About SPARC
Now in its 26th year, SPARC is the only industry-wide vendor recognition and awards program that brings together senior management from the mass retail industry and its suppliers to recognize those companies that have had outstanding performance over the past year. Nominations for the top suppliers in categories consisting of hard lines and soft lines are made by the department buyers at the leading full-line mass, specialty and warehouse chains across the country. The top two suppliers per category are recognized, with first place receiving the SPARC award and second place receiving the Silver Circle award. A SPARC Awards gala event to commemorate these achievements will take place during the International Mass Retail Association's (IMRA) annual convention in Orlando, Florida, on September 15-17, 2003. http://imra.org
