The Cosmic Kids were born at Educational Design, a New York-based educational toy company known for its award-winning science kits, crafts, and educational games. The Kids were created in response to a challenge: make science kid friendly but accessible to all ages. Kristen Pierson and Ty Eason, both grads of the prestigious Toy Design Program at FIT in New York, rose to the occasion with a line of adorable collectible figures who personify our Solar System. The first edition of the Cosmic Kids collection consists of ten figures depicting the Sun and the Nine Planets. (Earth comes with a special bonus-she's followed everywhere by her adorable moon pup, Luna). The figures range in size from 1 1/2 inches to 3 1/2 inches - suggesting the enormous size differences among the Kids' real-life cosmic counterparts.
The character of each Kid is based in some way on the physical or mythological properties of their real-world counterpart. To bring their personalities to life, every Kid comes with his or her own unique 16 page activity book. The books tell a story featuring that Kid and follow up with fun facts and activities that revolve around the story.
Cosmic Kids will orbit into stores this summer.
The folks at Educational Design have shared some of the first looks at these unique figures with RTM. We think these are some pretty nifty little toys that can really spark the imaginations of both kids and kids-at-heart alike!
