Kubrick Mania Is Running Wild Thanks To Previews
|
People are going crazy for Kubrick! Kubrick is a line of action figures inspired by the figures from a certain world-renowned building block toy. The 2-1/2" figures are based on a variety of manga, anime and movie properties and are getting collectors on both sides of the Pacific excited about the possibilities this new line offers. As the exclusive U.S. distributor for Japan's Medicom Toy, makers of Kubrick, Diamond Comic Distributors is offering the figure sets through it's Previews catalog. Each set retails at 12.99 through Diamond. This is about half of what the retail in Japan is, making these an excellent deal for U.S. collectors. The first Evangelion and Devilman Kubrick sets were priced at only 11.99 to help serve as an introduction to the line. Kubrick sets come packaged in a fifth panel window box. The boxes are illustrated with"Kubrick-esque" artwork and has a die cut thru the fifth panel so you can see one of the kubricks. Open the panel, and you will see all three Kubricks in the set. Each set also comes with a display base with backdrop. Kubrick sets based on Planet of the Apes and The Blair Witch Project have been shown on both Medicom's website and at the recent Tokyo Toy Show. Licensing conflicts may prevent Diamond from offering these sets, but the company is hoping to work through the issues and offer the figure sets sometime in the future. So far sets have been offered based on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Devilman, Armored Trooper Votoms, and Mazinger. Just some of the sets planned for release in 2000 include: Getter Robo, a second Mazinger set, and possibly more Evangelion. For information on ordering Kubricks speak to your local comics retailer, and be sure to keep reading Previews for the latest sets to be offered. [Updated 4/06/2000]
