November 19, 2003 - Mezco Toyz is proud to announce the release of special edition Run DMC figures offered exclusively in the U.S. through select Toy R Us stores. This exclusive assortment of figures pays tribute to the late Jam Master Jay, as well as Run and DMC. Each figure wears red cloth tracksuits, T-shirts printed with "RIP JMJ", and of course their signature fedoras.

Run-D.M.C. was the first rap group to earn gold and platinum albums; the first to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone; the first to receive airplay on MTV. Their fusion of rap and rock brought the group and the rap genre mainstream success and paved the way for all who followed. Mezco commemorates the kings of rap with an action figure line of 6" scale articulated vinyl figures with real cloth outfits and accessories, as well as a line of 2" scale Mez-itz™. After the passing of Jam Master Jay last year the group officially retired, and the music world lost a true pioneer and innovator of the rap music genre. Run DMC are the well-known fathers of rap, and pioneers of the hip-hop culture as it is known today.
