Los Angeles, CA - January 22nd, 2004 - McCarty PhotoWorks and Achy Breaky Toys today announced the start of the Great Drunk Tank Giveaway. The contest highlights the unique characters of the Mullet Heads brand of toys and gives two winners the chance to win a "Night in the Drunk Tank" photographic print.
One winner taken from online entries at mccartyphotoworks.com will receive a limited edition, signed, 12"x17", museum quality, photographic print of the Mullet Heads brand figure Artimus Moses Lester (AKA "The Carney") during his stay in the drunk tank of the Trousdale County Tennessee Sheriff's Department. The other winner, from entries taken at Achy Breaky Toys' booth at the upcoming American International TOY FAIR, will receive as a bonus the print custom framed appropriately with corrugated metal siding and Plexiglas, ready for hanging.
The photo is part of a series of images created by the Los Angeles based photo studio McCarty PhotoWorks for Achy Breaky Toys. With the idea of showing the characters from the Mullet Heads line in their natural settings, toy photographer Brian McCarty crisscrossed the country, visiting everything from late-night convenience store hangouts to forgotten roads and landmarks of Arizona with the toys.
The Mullet Heads, launched in 2001, is the signature brand of Achy Breaky Toys. Now in their second series, they have become sought after collectibles the world over. Standing four inches tall, each of the plastic figures have bigger than life personas that pay homage to those who throw fashion trends to the wind and wear their hair short in front and long in back.
Achy Breaky Toys was founded in 2001 by Melissa Varon and the brother-sister team of Jonathan Cathey and Jennifer Malloy. ABT is on a mission to create products that provide a comical and irreverent alternative to the often-sober collectors market. Now in their fourth year, ABT is introducing several new brands at Toy Fair that capture their core philosophy: Gutter Punx - Expressing everything punk; Fooies - Sending sentiments of unreciprocated love; Swear Bears - Trash talking teddy bears; and a collectible line of figures based on the underground artist SPAZZ's paintings.
The American International TOY FAIR, managed by the trade group the Toy Industry Association, will take place in New York City from February 15th through February 18th and is open only to the trade. Achy Breaky Toys will be at booth #5454 on the first floor of the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
