DF: John Romita Lithograph
|
June 16, 2004, Runnemede, NJ Dynamic Forces, Inc. today released the finished pencil art for their final John Romita Lithograph to be produced by the company, and painted by Alex Ross.
The piece, featuring many of the memorable characters that Romita put on the comic book page during his long and legendary career and it will be finished by Alex Ross.
"This idea was given to me almost three years ago. It was too good an idea not to work it out, but it was also the hardest thing I've ever done, which is the reason it has taken me so long to do," explained Romita. "The good thing is, I'm pleased and delighted that it will now be seen by all!"
"I thought we had squeezed the last bit of paint out of Alex for our Marvel Lithos," said Nick Barrucci, President of Dynamic Forces. "But when John's piece came in, he said that nothing could stop him from painting it, and who are we to argue?"
When asked on working with the legendary creator, Ross had this to say, "John's influence on me is huge, since his art is the first that I saw as a child. I've always had a fascination with the design aesthetic that he brought to comics, costuming, and it's staggering how many great AND important characters John created, co-created and designed! Sam Raimi himself has stated that John has been a primary influence on his portrayal of Spider-Man."
The piece, commissioned exclusively by Dynamic Forces, will be the last to feature new art by Romita, as well as the last new piece painted by Ross. Look for more information on ordering and pricing, including images of the final, painted piece, in the weeks to come!
