Dynamic Forces Sin City Statue

sin city comic book

June 22, 2004, Runnemede, NJ Dynamic Forces, Inc. today announced a new statue based on Frank Miller's acclaimed comic-book series Sin City!

The statue planned for a Christmas 2004 release, features the popular Marv character as sculpted by William Paquet and will be overseen by Miller. This will be the first new Sin City product Dynamic Forces will have released since Dynamic's Family Values Exclusive Cover Edition.

"We look forward in helping to bring the best-known character of Sin City to life -- especially so close to the big-screen version of Frank's powerful creation," said Nick Barrucci, President of Dynamic Forces, Inc. Barrucci was referring to the currently filming "Frank Miller's Sin City" feature film, starring, among others, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Maria Bello, Benicio Del Toro, and Jessica Alba and co-directed by Miller and Robert Rodriguez. Barrucci continued: "I've had the privilege of seeing William's sculpt of Marv, and it's marvelous! It is truly a masterpiece! This piece is only the beginning of Dynamic's Sin City line!" "We've always prided ourselves on our business relationship with Frank, but we're particularly honored that he and William have entrusted us to bring this version of Marv to the market."

Miller expressed his enthusiasm for Paquet's rendition of his character Marv: "This was never an assignment for William. This wasn't a job somebody handed him. This statue bugged him until he had to let it out. It's gorgeous, and inspired. Very cool."

William Paquet, a self-taught sculptor, has worked full-time as freelance artist for the past 13 years and was hired for his first DC Comics project in 1994. The statues Paquet has sculpted for DC Direct (over 40 in all) include: Nightwing, Dark Knight Returns, Joker, Spectre, Simon Bisley's Batman, The Dark Winter's Knight Snow Globe, and the new Lobo statue. He first worked with Frank Miller on the 10th anniversary Dark Knight Returns Statue, and won the "Wizard Fan Award" for that figure.
