July 9, 2004 (SEATTLE) WizKids Inc., makers of the best-selling HeroClix® and MLB™ SportsClix™ collectable miniatures games (CMGs), reports that their Pirates of the Spanish Main game was the runaway hit of the 2004 Origins gaming convention.
"We sold through our entire stock of Pirates of the Spanish Main, even though we limited the number of game packs people could buy," said Jordan Weisman, WizKids CEO. "Our demo tables were constantly full, with people lining up for a chance to get the Revenge promotional ship. Everywhere you looked, people were playing pickup games of Pirates."
"People were doing the demos, and then rushing to see how quickly they could line up to buy it," said Marc Grossman, a new Pirates player. "It was absolutely amazing to watch."
The Pirates of the Spanish Main game, WizKids' first Constructible Strategy Game, is due to release July 28, 2004.
