Los Angeles, CA (September 22, 2004) -- Leading graphic novel publisher TOKYOPOP® will be releasing a new Cine-Manga® based on Bambi, Disney's animated tale about the coming of age of a lovable little deer who must face the wild alone. In this 1942 classic, Bambi explores love, loss and growth with the help of friends including Thumper the rabbit, Flower the skunk, and the wise Owl.
TOKYOPOP's Bambi will be available at major bookstores beginning March 2005, and will coincide with the release of Disney's Bambi Special Edition DVD, which will be launched by Buena Vista Home Entertainment the same month.
TOKYOPOP's adventure-packed spreads are peppered with manga-style text balloons, where Bambi and friends' onscreen antics are cleverly captured in a lively and innovative layout. Aimed at children 4-6 years old, the Bambi Cine-Manga is designed to appeal to a younger audience than existing Cine-Manga titles, including That's So Raven and Lizzie McGuire, which are targeted at children 7-11.
"Bambi is a ground-breaking film that introduced new animation techniques," said Cine-Manga Senior Editor, Elizabeth Hurchalla. "TOKYOPOP is honored to bring the big-screen adventure of this cherished forest fable to the hearts of young readers in an entirely new format."
