Fisher Price & Bear Help Children's Miracle Network

Straight from the Big Blue House and Fisher-Price Brands, Love to Dance Bear will be doing his famous cha-cha-cha this weekend to help raise funding for Children's Miracle Network. For the fourth consecutive year, Fisher-Price Brands is donating one of the hot toys for the holidays, not yet available in stores nationwide, to the 143 Children's Miracle Network member hospitals in the United States for auction during the organization's annual national Champion's Broadcast telethon, June 3 - 4. Love to Dance Bear is the newest creation in the Bear in the Big Blue House toy collection and is currently available only at select FAO Schwarz stores (ed. note: We've also found Love to Dance Bear available now at eToys.com). The big, cuddly, shaggy orange bear, already a hit at the annual Toy Fair, will not be available in stores across the country until August, according to Neil Friedman, president of Fisher-Price Brands. In the past, Fisher-Price Brands product has prompted viewers to make donations of $1,000 or more, according to Sue Roady, vice president of marketing and promotions for Children's Miracle Network. ``It's always a big boost to donations to be able to feature product with limited availability,'' she says. ``The toy business is all about making children and their families happy,'' says Mr. Friedman. ``We are always thrilled to have the opportunity to help bring more smiles to children across the country through the valuable work of Children's Miracle Network.'' Since 1996, Fisher-Price Brands has captured the public's imagination with such hugely popular toys as Tickle Me Elmo and Sing & Snore Ernie, and last year's most popular plush - Rock & Roll Elmo. The magic continues with Love to Dance Bear from Bear In the Big Blue House collection. Kids will be delighted when this fun, furry Love to Dance Bear plush toy magically comes to life. When kids press Bear's hand, he begins to dance and sing The Bear Cha Cha Cha. His poseable arms allow for a variety of dance poses. Kids will love to sing and dance along with Bear. The 21-hour fundraising event benefits 170 hospitals for children throughout the U.S. and Canada. Over the last two decades, Children's Miracle Network has evolved into the dominant organization actively providing better health care for millions of children through it's affiliated hospitals. Now in its eighteenth year, the CMN fundraiser benefits 170 children's hospitals. The CMN Champions broadcast is carried over a caring network of 200 television stations in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and annually benefits 14 million children suffering from every affliction. Since 1983, CMN has raised more than $1.3 billion for children's hospitals. [Posted 6/02/2000]
