2004 Wizard World Texas

The Wizard World Texas convention was back in 2004, and Casimir was again on the scene to discover which toys and related collectibles were on display. Check out the images from the convention, or keep reading below to get the official recap of the event from the Wizard Conventions team.

WIZARD WORLD DALLAS ATTENDANCE RECORDS SENDS THE WIZARD SERIES OF EVENTS INTO THE STRATOSPHERE

The Second Annual Comic Book and Collectibles Convention Establishes the Wizard Conventions as the Dominant Force in Pop-Culture Events

Congers, NY (November 8, 2004) - Wizard Conventions, along with its sister company, Wizard Entertainment Group, the country's foremost authority on everything related to comic books, gaming, anime, toys, collectibles and pop-culture, announced new attendance records for its second annual Wizard World Dallas convention, held this weekend in Arlington, Texas (November 5-7). The show exceeded expectations, ushering 12,000 fans through its doors, demonstrating an increase of more than 30 percent from last year's event. Legions of fans crammed into the Arlington Convention Center to get up-close-and-personal with a host of comic book and pop-culture talent that included David Goyer (writer/director, Blade: Trinity), Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds (actors, Blade: Trinity), Erica Durance (Smallville), Jason Mewes (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back), Paul Dini (writer, Lost), Jim Lee (artist, Superman, Batman), Michael Turner (artist, Fathom, Soulfire) and Marc Silvestri (artist Witchblade, X-Men) among scores of creators.

Wizard World Dallas caps off a big week for Wizard Conventions, which announced the addition of Wizard World Boston last week (September 30 - October 2, 2005 at the Bayside Expo Center). Wizard World Dallas - along with this year's Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles events - have pushed yearly attendance figures well past the 100,000 mark, making the company's shows the largest pop-culture draw in the country.

"The success that we experienced with Wizard World Dallas is a powerful example of the ever-growing interest in comic books and related properties, as well as fans' reliance upon Wizard to deliver an experience that they simply can't find anywhere else," said Gareb Shamus, CEO of Wizard Entertainment Group. "Wizard attendees know that they can attend our events and meet the figures that are shaping the direction of pop-culture - guys like David Goyer and Paul Dini that grew up with comic books and are now in power positions to green light the comic-influenced properties that they'd like to bring to life."

At the show, attendees enthusiastically applauded Goyer as he unveiled never-before-seen footage of New Line's upcoming Blade: Trinity. Goyer was joined by the film's stars Jessica Biel (Cellular, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 7th Heaven) and Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder) for a panel that gave Wizard World Dallas attendees the inside track on one of Hollywood's most highly anticipated comic-themed properties of the holiday season.

Additionally, Paul Dini, writer for ABC's highly acclaimed show "Lost," previewed exclusive footage of upcoming episodes to a packed house of fans.

The show also featured scores of the comic book industry's top artists and illustrators and many exclusives - only available at the show collectibles - from industry leaders including Palisades Toys, Wiz Kids and Graffiti Design's Giant Size Silent Bob action figure as well as huge tournaments from some of the biggest names in gaming such as Sony PlayStation, NC Soft, Upper Deck's Yu-Gi-Oh and Score Entertainment's Inuyasha.

With the doors to Wizard World Dallas closed, fans can look forward to Wizard World Los Angeles, scheduled for March 18-20, 2005 at the Long Beach Convention Center. The popular Wizard World event series will return to the Arlington Convention Center next year from November 4-6, 2005.
