Lego and Major League Soccer Go For The Goal
|
Packed with more than a quarter of a million LEGO pieces the LEGO/MLS Soccer Experience truck tour begins its nationwide tour today, Thursday, June 8, with a debut at LEGOLAND California. Designed to encourage creativity, as well as build interest in the sport of soccer, the 48-foot trailer, filled with colorful, interactive LEGO exhibits, will travel to all 12 Major League Soccer stadiums from June through October. The truck will also make special appearances at the MLS All-Star Game in July, the MLS Cup in October, and variety of other family locations throughout the country. Inside the bright, green 48-foot-trailer, kids discover colorful LEGO exhibits, push buttons and discover what surprises happen. Outside the truck, kids participate in hands-on fun, including LEGO Soccer matches; they can play ``goalie'' on an oversized inflatable goal, as well as a variety of interactive activities for families with kids of all ages. While on the road, LEGO will be searching for the ``Best LEGO Soccer Builder'' in the U.S. Children ages five to 12 will be challenged to design and build a unique, creative, LEGO soccer-themed model at home and bring it to the show to be judged. One child in each city will be named the ``Best LEGO Soccer Builder'' in his/her city, receive the entire 2000 LEGO Soccer assortment and a special LEGO soccer trophy. The Grand Prize is a family trip to the 2001 MLS All-Star Game, the honor of kicking out the game ball and $1,000 in LEGO product.
