January 5, 2005 (SEATTLE) - WizKids Inc. and Wizard Entertainment are proud to announce a new partnership designed to develop an ongoing series of high-level events for WizKids' best-selling HeroClix® collectable miniatures game (CMG).
"Partnering with one of the biggest names in comics collectables is an exciting step for HeroClix," said Mike Samora, vice president of Sales and Marketing at WizKids®. "We welcome the opportunity to provide our players with this higher level of competition." The events will occur in four three-month cycles each year, culminating in a winner-take-all championship at each of Wizard's popular Wizard World conventions. The first event cycle is scheduled to kick off February 2005.
Each event cycle consists of three levels of competition: a local event, a regional event and the culminating championship event. Winning a level of competition automatically places a player in the final rounds of the next level of play. Prizes for each event will vary, and they may include prize packs of Limited Edition figures, complete figure sets of HeroClix expansions and event-exclusive participation prizes, while supplies last.
