Announcing National Games Week™ 2005 and the NGW™ Sponsors, Supporters & Affiliates
May 6, 2005 - Broomfield, Colorado - Game publishers have nearly quadrupled their support since last year's start up of National Games Week (NGW). This is allowing a massive expansion of NGW programs and promotions. Promotions include production of television, radio and newspaper advertisements which retailers can run in their local media, enhancement of NGW materials, enlargement of the features of the web site, and increased cooperation with organizations who want to get involved.
What is National Games Week?
NGW is a celebration of non-electronic games, taking the form of events in homes, schools, churches, community centers and retail locations. Last year over 2,600 events were officially logged, while 31,800 web sites worldwide noted National Games Week. NGW's mission is to illustrate to people in the USA, and throughout the world, that games are positive, social entertainment. Anyone can become a member of NGW, by signing up on the web site www.nationalgamesweek.net. Membership is free, though members are asked to host an event. Members can utilize the web site to order numerous printed materials such as host kits, invitation cards, posters, banners, polo shirts, official U.S. postage stamps with the NGW logo, plus promotional game packages from game publishers. These supplies can fully equip an event, creating a lot of fun for everyone.
National Games Week is always the fourth week of November. This year it is November 20-26. All materials, and the expanded web site, will be ready August 1. This gives everyone nearly four months to prepare and to invite family and friends to their event.
The Web Site
Many upgrades are being designed for the web site. Educators and Retailers will have special sections, people and retailers from outside of the USA will be able to participate and to order materials, the Retailer Locator is being improved to include zip code searches, and nearly every aspect is getting enhancements. This work will be completed for the launch date of August 1.
Gencon SoCal, November 17-20, is the Official Game Convention of NGW 2005. We have some special plans for this! You an find out more info on Gencon SoCal at www.gencon.com.
