HyperChild Takes on American McGee

AMERICAN McGEE's NEW "NIGHTMARE TRILOGY" GO HYPER! Video Game Designer American McGee and HyperChild team-up for new twisted toys!
July 1st, 2005 - Starting this Winter, take a wild journey through designer American McGee's new visions of classic fairy tales RED RIDING HOOD, BROTHERS GRIMM and WIZARD OF OZ with all new lines of toys and collectibles from the HyperChild Workshop.
The iconoclastic video game designer who started his career on DOOM and QUAKE has produced such exciting hits as AMERICAN MCGEE'S ALICE for Electronic Arts. Throwing the world of Wonderland into a dark and bloody spiral, Alice spawned a series of best-selling action figures based on characters from the game. As was recently announced, the property is being adapted into a feature film by Universal Pictures with Sarah Michelle Gellar slated to play the lead role of Alice.
Now McGee writes a new distorted chapter in some of the world's best known fairytales, starting with AMERICAN MCGEE'S GRIMM based on the world of the Brothers Grimm. The nightmare continues into the bloodstained realm of AMERICAN MCGEE'S RED where we find Little Red Riding Hood has become something of a big red wolf destroyer. Our journey ends, at least for now, in the forbidding shadows of the Obsidian City from AMERICAN MCGEE'S OZ.
Each trilogy will initially feature a series of PVC figurines bound to illustrated books. The books will follow the dark narratives of individual characters while exploring the sinister worlds in which they live. A 6" action figure line and poly-resin statues in large premiere-scale will follow this initial release.
"This is an unbelievable take on these classic characters - that is why we are involved," says Casey Lau, Head of Creative for HyperChild. "Working with American and his team is a unique experience and their take on these classic characters is the reason we jumped at the chance to produce product, as it fits in a great niche for video game fans, fantasy and horror fans, and collectors of neat looking toys!"
"It's time we took the fairytales away from the children and made them our own once more," says American McGee, "Working with Casey and HyperChild is going to make it possible for me to deliver some of the most wicked characters in the highest possible quality to fans all over the world."
HyperChild will debut sculpts for some of the characters at the San Diego Comic-Con July 14-17th, 2005 at the ActionFigureXpress booth #4607.
