Torrance, CA -- July 15, 2005 -- Bleeding Edge Inc.™, a Los Angeles based gothic doll and toy manufacturer has revealed their exclusive license to produce and sell six new 12" Princess Ai dolls and action figures. The Manga girl fashion figures are based on the character Princess Ai co-created by rock star Courtney Love and D.J. Milky and introduced in the book A Diva Torn from Chaos, A Savoir Doomed to Love. The Manga art book features some of the most cutting-edge Manga art in Japan, including character designs by famed Manga-ka Yazawa Ai.
The book is printed in the authentic Japanese right-to-left format used for Manga, comic books named by the Japanese term for "entertaining visual." The Princess Ai Manga art dolls by Bleeding Edge Inc.™ are a true replication of the Manga world, ideal for all who enjoy collecting beautifully crafted collectible fashion dolls.
"Obtaining exclusive rights to produce the Princess Ai dolls and action figures is a great coup for Bleeding Edge," said Steve Varner, President of Bleeding Edge Inc.™ "We're excited about the six different dolls and are thrilled about the public's reaction when we displayed them online." The new designs include: Evening Ai, Club Cupid Ai, Borrowed Threads Ai, Angelic Ai, Fell to Earth Ai and Rock 'n' Roll Ai. The Magna girl images are perfect replicas of the characters in the fantastic Manga art books.
Each doll features the unique fashions Princess Ai wears, along with her mysterious locket and signature torn stockings. Princess Ai dolls also come with a sneak peek sampler of the next installment of the hit series, Princess Ai Lumination. Additionally, Princess Ai Lumination will feature pages that depict the process of designing, sculpting and manufacturing the Magna girl dolls. New Princess Ai dolls will be modeled after the characters in this upcoming Princess Ai graphic novel book 2, Lumination.
"Princess Ai, the heroine of the books is an amazing character," said Varner. "Since we're specialists in sculpting female figures, she was an excellent fit for us. I knew we had to make the Princess Ai doll when my 13-year-old daughter Michelle, an avid fan of Manga, insisted I create the Manga girl dolls after reading the first book and encouraged my first Princess Ai creation."
The Princess Ai dolls were showcased at Bleeding Edge's booth at Comic-Con International 2005, July 14-17 at the San Diego Convention Center. For more information on the dolls and to order, visit http://www.begoths.com/productslist.php?categoryid=7.
