August 9, 2005 (SEATTLE) - WizKids Inc., creator of the runaway hit games Pirates of the Spanish Main™ and HeroClix®, are proud to announce that Mike Donovon of Madison, Ohio, defeated all opponents to become the 2005 United States MechWarrior®: Age of Destruction champion.
The massive event, held in Columbus, Ohio, at the 2005 Origins International Game Expo, drew nearly 100 MechWarrior players from all over the United States. Donovan defeated Mathew Mizera of Northville, Mich., in the final round of play.
Donovan survived six rounds of grueling competition, and his victory secured him a place in the 2005 MechWarrior World Championship event at Gen Con Indy 2005 in August. The top prize for the event is an incredible virtual reality "pod."
