Dog owners of all ages are invited to take a "paws" from their busy schedules and enter their least obedient, most un-trained dogs into this rollicking and irreverent dog contest, where a panel of judges will determine who is America's least obedient dog. Beginning on August 16, dog owners from across the country can submit videotapes of their misbehaving dogs for a chance to become a finalist. In addition, Hasbro and the SCAMPS: MY PLAYFUL PUP search squad will hold local search competitions for additional finalists in three cities: San Diego, Chicago and New York City. The first event will take place at the Toys "R" Us Mission Bay store in San Diego on August 27. Hasbro plans to post the funniest videos and photos of contestants on Hasbro's website. Each dog contestant will demonstrate its lack of prowess either on their videotape entry or at a local search event and a Hasbro panel of judges will determine which pups are truly the worst of the worst. Entrants will be judged based on the following criteria: refuses to obey commands such as "speak," "paw/shake," "lay down," "sit," and "beg"; is loud/noisy; and is lacking in restraint/discipline. Based on the judges' scores, Hasbro will select a maximum of one finalist each from the videotape entries and the San Diego, Chicago, and New York local search competitions, for up to a total of four Finalists. The New York local search event will take place immediately before the Finals event, allowing dog owners to have one last shot at entering their dogs. All Finalists will receive a $500 cash prize and will compete at the Finals event in New York City on Saturday, October 22, for a chance to receive the Grand Prize and the title of "America's Least Obedient Dog." As the Grand Prize, the winning dog (and its owner) win the promise of a better tomorrow: intensive training by a leading dog obedience expert to become more like SCAMPS: MY PLAYFUL PUP, as well as a $2,000 cash prize.
