RENTON, Wash. -- Oct. 12, 2005 -- Geek is chic -- and what could be more chic than a global party celebrating the popularity of counter-culture icon DUNGEONS & DRAGONS? On Saturday, November 5, 2005, Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc., will sponsor WORLDWIDE DUNGEONS & DRAGONS GAME DAY in hundreds of select hobby and toy stores around the globe. Experienced players and newcomers will gather during this 24-hour period to flex their imaginations and have fun playing the classic roleplaying game DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Last year more than 25,000 gamers came out to play D&D on Game Day, and this year Wizards of the Coast anticipates an even greater turnout.
"We experienced an overwhelming turnout for Worldwide D&D Game Day in 2004, thanks to the loyalty of our fans and their dedication to the game," said Charles Ryan, Brand Manager for DUNGEONS & DRAGONS at Wizards of the Coast. "The ranks of D&D players continue to swell, and we're expecting this year's Game Day to be the biggest and most exciting event in the game's 31-year history."
Participating game stores around the world listed at http://www.dndgameday.com will present adventures packed with fiendish monsters to slay, diabolical traps to overcome, and heroic stories to be boasted. Players can bring a band of friends to adventure with or plan to meet some new gaming buddies. Players can also earn points when they sign up for D&D Rewards™ and the Roleplaying Game Association (RPGA). Additionally, while supplies last, each player will receive a free Worldwide D&D Game Day souvenir to add to their treasure trove. Souvenirs include D&D® Miniatures and a special D&D Campaign Card. Players will need to bring a pen or pencil, paper and a set of dice that includes 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 20-sided dice.
In mid-October, Wizards of the Coast will post a list of participating retail locations online at http://www.dndgameday.com. Please contact the event organizer at specific locations for start times, directions, or other participation requirements.
